Mount Marty College is a private, Catholic, Benedictine, coeducational liberal arts college founded in 1936. Mount Marty offers associate, bachelor and master degrees and prepares students for professional careers in over 30 fields. In fact, the mission of Mount Marty College is to prepare students for a contemporary world of work, service to the human community, and personal growth.
National Recognition
Mount Marty College strives towards academic excellence. In the most recent issue of the U.S. News and World Report, the College ranked among the third tiered master level colleges and universities in the Midwest region. The areas of distinction include our graduation rate and our retention rate. Mount Marty College is also known for best value, relating academic quality to cost of attendance.
History
Founded in 1936 by the Sisters of Saint Benedict, Mount Marty College is named in memory of Martin Marty, a Benedictine missionary to the Native Americans, who came to Dakota Territory in 1876, became the Territory's first Catholic Bishop, and who invited the Benedictine Sisters to establish a religious community in Yankton. The college functioned as junior college for women for 15 years; in 1951 it awarded its first Bachelor of Arts degrees and it awarded the first Master degree in 1985. The college became coeducational in 1969. The Watertown campus was founded in 1979. Today Mount Marty College remains a place where students can explore their beliefs and share their faith.

Mount Marty College counts more than 10,000 alumni since the school's founding. MMC alumni have distinguished themselves in Fortune 500 companies, education, health care, medicine, literature, and law. A sampling of our alumni employers include 3M, Citibank, Gateway, Honeywell International, Los Alamos National Lab, Make a Wish Foundation, Mayo Clinic, Novartis Pharmaceuticals, Premiere Psychiatric Group LLC, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, NASA, and Walt Disney World Resort. Mount Marty has a job placement rate of 94%.
Location
Mount Marty College is located in Yankton. Yankton, a community of 15,000 is nestled on the bluffs of the mighty Missouri River and the Lewis & Clark Lake. Because of the beautiful natural resources, it is the heart of year-round recreation for southeastern South Dakota. The city, also rich in the history and culture of the area, has activities to match any taste.
Enrollment
MMC enrolls over 1,100 students on all campuses, with approximately 600 students located on our Yankton campus. Students come from across the U.S. to include South Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, and 20 other states along with 5 foreign countries. The Watertown campus enrolls approximately 300 students and the graduate programs enroll approximately 100 students a year.
Campus
Mount Marty College's main campus is located in Yankton, South Dakota and is a beautifully maintained campus of 80 acres. MMC, Yankton is a residential campus with two residential residence halls, a chapel, student center, performing arts auditorium, athletic arena, Scholastica Learning Center and the Cyber Café. Mount Marty has two other campuses that include Watertown and Sioux Falls. The Watertown campus is the undergraduate branch campus located on the campus of Lake Area Technical Institute. The Sioux Falls campus is home to our graduate program in nursing and is located on one of the Avera Health campuses.

Entering Class Profile
Mount Marty freshmen average an ACT score of 21.3 and a GPA of 3.28 with sixty percent having a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Sixty-six percent of MMC's students are women, thirty-four percent are men. About 5% are Hispanic-Americans, African Americans, Native Americans, and multiethnic students. Students come from across the United States and from 5 other countries. Approximately 30% of students are commuters and adult learners. MMC serves students of all faiths with 60% of the students being Catholic.
Technology
Laptop computers are provided to all full-time students. MMC's wireless campus provides easy access to computer applications, Internet, and on-line assignments. The world is at your fingertips. Our campus is totally connected ... so you can be, too.
Student Activities
Mount Marty College has something special to offer - a community that encourages intellectual, physical, social, and spiritual growth. Student life on the Yankton campus is active and multifaceted. There are limitless opportunities for involvement with more than 50 student clubs, activities, and organizations to get involved. Some opportunities include performing-arts groups, theatre, campus ministry, intramurals, honor societies, academic clubs, intramural athletics, student newspaper, student government and campus programming.

MMC is a member of the NAIA and the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC). Each year MMC has several Lancer athletes named NAIA All-American Scholar Athletes, named to All-American teams, and named conference Players of the Year.

Scholarships and Financial Assistance
MMC is dedicated to making private, quality education affordable. Ninety-nine percent of MMC students receive financial assistance. Last year we gave over $8 million in aid through scholarships, grants, loans, and employment. Awards include grants and scholarships from MMC, as well as federal assistance, workstudy, and loan programs. Scholarships are available for academics, athletics, music, and talent. Academic Calendar
Mount Marty College's academic calendar is semester based, with the fall semester starting in August or September and ending in December and the spring semester starting in January and ending in May. There are also optional summers sessions offered.

Mount Marty College is affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church. The Benedictine Community of Sacred Heart Monastery is the sponsoring agent of the college; the Board of Trustees is the final governing board of the institution.
