Mount Marty Field Athletes Qualify For Nationals
Mount Marty College has two female field athletes who have qualified for the NAIA National indoor meet in Johnson City, Tenn.
Laura Wortmann placed first at the GPAC conference meet this past weekend with a shot put throw of 47’ 8”. This measurement ranks her third in the nation in women’s shot put and qualifies her for the national meet. Wortmann is currently a junior at Mount Marty, majoring in physical and secondary education. She is a native of Crofton, Neb.
Angela Kayser placed second in the weight throw (hammer throw) at the conference with a new Mount Marty record of 50’ 3.5” to earn an automatic birth to the national meet. This measurement also placed her 14th in the nation. Kayser is a senior at Mount Marty, majoring in nursing. She is a native of Alexandria, S.D.
They are coached by Randy Fischer and Lenni Billberg.
The 28th Annual Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championships will be held March 6 – 8 at Memorial Center in Johnson City, Tenn.
