Wortmann Named Athlete-of-the-Week
 For the second time this year, the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports announced Laura Wortmann was selected as the athlete-of-the-week in women’s field events for April 7 – April 14, 2008.
Wortmann, a junior from Crofton, Nebraska, placed first in both the shot put and discus at the Wayne State Invite last weekend. Her mark in the shot put was 47-1.5, while in the discus her throw was 144-11. Both marks are NAIA automatic marks for the National Championships and lead the GPAC.
Wortmann is currently seeking her Bachelor of Arts in Physical & Secondary Education and is the daughter of Dave and Sandra Wortmann of Crofton.
Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2007-2008 GPAC players-of-the-week and players and coaches-of-the-year awards program.
