James T. (Tim) Barry, Ed.D. was appointed in October 2002, as the eighth President of Mount Marty College. Dr. Barry holds a Doctor of Education and a Master of Science in Education from Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, Illinois, and a Bachelor of Arts from Briar Cliff College, Sioux City, Iowa. He is a native of Rock Valley, Iowa, and began his career in higher education in 1971 as an Admissions Counselor at Briar Cliff College in Sioux City, IA. He joined St. Ambrose University, Davenport, Iowa, in 1974 and served there in many capacities including the Associate Vice President of University Relations and Coordinator of Strategic Planning, Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management, Marketing, and Strategic Planning, and Dean of Admissions. From 1993 to 2000, he was the Vice President for Advancement at Avila College, Kansas City, Missouri. For the two years immediately prior to his appointment as President of Mount Marty, he served as Vice President of Development at People to People International in Kansas City, Missouri. In that capacity he was charged with all domestic and global fundraising and global outreach.

Dr. Barry possesses extensive experience in enrollment management, fund raising, and strategic planning. While he was at St. Ambrose, he established a nationally recognized, comprehensive enrollment management model for higher education. He currently serves on the National Advisory Board of Ethics, Standards and Practices of Educational Communications, Inc. (Publishers: Who's Who Among American High School Students), as a Board of Trustees member at Conception Seminary College, Conception, Missouri, and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Yankton Area Chamber of Commerce. Dr. Barry is also a Permanent Deacon in the Diocese of Sioux Falls, Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
