Students have the opportunity to work with individual advisors as they
develop an internship program. Recent internship sites include the Yankton
housing authority, the City Manager's Office, local banking institutions,
manufacturers, and the Small Business Development Center.
Faculty members take a strong interest in the internships, offering guidance
and support throughout the experience. The Business Department also sponsors the
Small Business Development Center to assist small businesses and is an excellent
source of experience for Mount Marty students.
Many business majors become active in Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE).
SIFE gives students the tools to learn the free enterprise system in real
working situations. SIFE challenges students to take what they have learned in
classes and use their knowledge to better their communities. The MMC SIFE club
was recognized as a division champion at the recent SIFE convention in St.
Louis, MO, and placed second at the national SIFE championship based on their
business project.
The Business Club brings speakers into the classroom, and sponsors
educational and community service projects as well as social events. Business
majors have also participated in Junior Achievement, Peoples Law School, and conducted a "Stock Market Game" at a local school. |
