Clinical Laboratory Science

Many medical technology majors become active in the Chemistry and Biology Clubs on campus and participate in health fairs, field trips, scientific meetings, various service projects, and social events.

Other opportunities include membership in Tri Beta National Biological Honors Society, National Science Foundation, and the Lambda Delta Lambda National Honor Society.

Students in medical technology also have opportunities for research projects. Some research projects include Molecular epidemiology of Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus in clinical settings. Research also involves study of the genetics of Enterococcus faecalis which is one of the predominant vancomycin resistant organisms found in clinical settings.

Mount Marty College is a member of the Committee on Medical Technology Education Programs. Mount Marty College has an affiliation with three hospitals for clinical experiences. Medical Technology students receive their clinical training at one of three sites:

  • Mercy Medical Center | Sioux City, IA
  • Sioux Valley Hospital and USD Medical Center | Sioux Falls, SD
