Many medical technology majors become active in the Chemistry and Biology
Clubs on campus and participate in health fairs, field trips, scientific meetings, various service projects, and social events.
Other opportunities include membership in Tri Beta National Biological Honors
Society, National Science Foundation, and the Lambda Delta Lambda National Honor
Society.
Students in medical technology also have opportunities for research projects.
Some research projects include Molecular epidemiology of Methicillin Resistant
Staphylococcus in clinical settings. Research also involves study of the
genetics of Enterococcus faecalis which is one of the predominant vancomycin
resistant organisms found in clinical settings.
Mount Marty College is a member of the Committee on Medical Technology
Education Programs. Mount Marty College has an affiliation with three hospitals
for clinical experiences. Medical Technology students receive their clinical
training at one of three sites:
- Mercy Medical Center | Sioux City, IA
- Sioux Valley Hospital and USD Medical Center | Sioux Falls, SD
- St. Luke's Regional Medical Center | Sioux City, IA
