Students have many opportunities to supplement their academics. Internship
experiences are coordinated by faculty and on-site supervisors to prepare
students for the world of work in criminal
justice. Service partners include the Federal Prison Camp, County Sheriff's
Office, Court Services, State Juvenile Corrections, Yankton Police Department,
South Dakota Human Services Center, area law firms and private facilities for
juvenile offenders.
Many criminal justice majors become active in the Criminal Justice Club. The
Criminal Justice Club invites guest speakers including judges, police officers,
attorneys, probation officers and state agents to network with criminal justice
professionals. Field trips have been taken to jails, prisons, juvenile boot
camps, police and sheriff agencies, and the SD Supreme Court.
Alpha Phi Sigma is the honor society for criminal justice at Mount Marty
