Many nursing students become active in the MMC Student Nurses Club and Nursing Students Association. Activities involve outreach projects such as national depression screening, health fairs, health education, child passenger safety fitting stations, and prostate cancer screening.

Many MMC Junior Nursing students have been selected to participate in clinical internships at various healthcare centers including McKennan Hospital, Sioux Valley Hospital, Mayo Clinic, Human Services Center, and St. Luke's Hospital.

Other MMC Nursing Students collect Christmas gifts for hospitalized patients, staff immunization clinics, and play bingo with residents of area nursing homes.

Field trips taken include Children's Hospital in Sioux Falls and the Berekah House. Students have been active in the SD Student Nurses Association, which includes state convention activities.

The MMC Student Nurses Club has participated and won first place in the State Convention Quiz Bowl for two consecutive years.
