Students have many opportunities to supplement their academic programs.
Radiologic Technology majors can become involved in the Biology or Chemistry
clubs as well as participate in the health fair, various service projects and
social events on- and off-campus.
Students in the Radiologic Technology program take advantage of job shadowing
at the Avera Sacred Heart Hospital Radiology department or in other hospitals or
medical clinics under the supervision of a certified radiographer. This is a
great opportunity for students to witness what the position of a Radiologic
Technologist actually entails.
The shadowing program also provides experiences to learn about radiographic
procedures, terminology, and techniques. It is also required to complete
shadowing before students apply to a school of radiology as it greatly enhances
their standing in the very competitive field of radiology. |
