Many students become active in the Philosophy Club. The Philosophy Club is a
group of students who enjoy talking about the issues of life in our society. The
club meets weekly over lunch.
Students may also become active in Mount Marty's Campus Ministry Club. The
campus ministry organization is committed to applying the teachings and values
of Christ to the challenges being experienced by men and women of today.
Other opportunities for involvement include the honor society for Religion,
Theta Alpha Kappa, and the honor society for Catholic Colleges, Kappa Gamma Pi.
Religious Studies & Philosophy majors have many community service opportunities
in the Yankton area. Many teach in the family program at Sacred Heart Parish, or
religious education classes at Sacred Heart or St. Benedict parishes, and for
ERTH, an ecumenical program offering religious education for handicapped people
of all ages.
Internships are a requirement of the Religious Studies & Philosophy program.
Each student is also required to complete a research project, which is related
to the particular form of ministry he or she intends to pursue. |
