With the advancements being made in technology, the role of information
technology and computer science is essential to society, industry, and
education. College graduates with training in computers are in high demand. The
degree completion program is designed for associate degree graduates of Lake
Area Technical Institute's Computer Information Systems program beginning 2000
to the present. These graduates have an in-depth knowledge of their field and
are fully competent in the use of computer technology.
Many jobs in the computer field, including advancement and promotion into
management, require business skills and a bachelor's degree. This degree will
enhance employability for these trained computer technicians who wish to advance
professionally and personally.
The program allows students to transfer general education and technical
coursework completed as part of the associate degree from LATI to meet MMC
requirements. Students would then add general education coursework necessary for
a bachelor's degree along with business coursework to attain a minor in
business.
Necessary general education credits will become part of the student's degree
program, as well as a minimum of 16 credits in business to complete minor
requirements. With the accumulation of 128 credits that include MMC requirements
for general education and business minor, and a 3 credit senior seminar as a
capstone course for IT, students will be awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree.
The program offers flexible once-a-week, evening course delivery schedule. It
would be the only Bachelors degree opportunity available to students in the
Watertown area that includes the transfer of technical coursework. |
