At Mount Marty College, we understand the concerns of our students and their
families about the cost of a quality college education. Many feel that the
initial cost of college is an accurate determinant of the overall cost of a
degree; however, sometimes this initial price tag can be misleading and several
factors should be considered to determine the true cost of a degree.
Through a specially monitored advising program and dedicated faculty advisors,
Mount Marty College has established a four-year compact not only to help our
students attain their degree in the most timely manner possible, but also to
help ensure that a private college education can be affordable - often more so
than a degree obtained through a public institution. Although MMC's initial cost
may seem higher, we utilize a variety of sources for financial aid to help
reduce that initial cost. In addition, by completing a degree within four years
(which can often be very difficult to accomplish at many public institutions),
MMC is saving you an additional year(s) of tuition costs and gaining you income
by helping you to enter the job market sooner.
This is just one more way that Mount Marty is dedicated to your success!
Through this compact, Mount Marty College will:
- Offer all required courses necessary for the student to complete a major
and the college's graduation requirements within four years.
- Provide a qualified faculty advisor to assist the student in scheduling
classes.
- Provide academic support services to assist the student in the successful
completion of a degree.
- Provide the student a laptop computer upon graduation after 8 successful
semester at MMC and full payment of the full-time program support fee
If the student will:
- Enroll in eight consecutive regular semesters as a full-time student at
Yankton.
- Maintain a cumulative grade point average to remain in good standing
according to major and college requirements as outlined in the college
catalog.
- Fulfill the requirements necessary for the four-year degree guarantee.
Requirements:
- The student shall enroll as a first-time college student on the Yankton
campus.
- The student shall be admitted to MMC as a regular student.
- The student shall declare his/her graduating major before the second year.
Students who plan to major in nursing, accounting, pre-professional health, or
education must declare their major upon entering MMC. This four year guarantee
does not apply to the special education.
- The student shall complete 16 credits per semester.
- The student shall complete at least on May term.
- The new student shall meet at least two times a semester with his/her
advisor for the first year and at least once per semester with his/her
academic advisor for the remaining three years.
- The student shall follow the policies outlined in the college catalog and
student handbook.
(Note: If all requirements are fulfilled, the student should graduate in four
years. It is also possible to graduate in less than four years, have more than
one major, or include minors. This compact covers one major in four years. With
good academic planning, much more can be achieved!)
So, what can it save you? Yes, we actually said SAVE! Let us show you the math!
