Summer Camp Fever at MMC!
Three distinct, fun-filled camps are being planned for the week of July 13-19, 2008 at Mount Marty College. Be sure to share the following information with your high school students which might be interested in these opportunities.
Debate and Oral Interpretation Camp:

This camp will include two different formats: 1) Lincoln-Douglas Debate, a one-on-one debate in which one debater argues in favor of a given topic and the other argues against it and 2) Public Forum, an event that allows students to research and prepare on recent, up-to-date and in the news topic.
Debate camp is designed for high school students (grades 9-12) of every experience level from novice to varsity.
The camp is designed to help:
- Develop communication skills
- Develop critical thinking skills
- Develop leadership skills
- Develop persuasive communication skills
- Learn about the world around you
Camp activities include public speaking, persuasive communication, research logical argumentation, resolutional analysis, interpretation techniques, and much more!

Graphic Design and Media Arts Camp:

This camp allows students to take a look at the ever increasing opportunities in the world of design, television and the Internet. Students will work in small teams to create advertising for print, television and the Internet. At the end of the week, they will be able to take these images home, to become part of their personal portfolios.
The camp is designed to help students:
- Explore a creative career
- Develop design skills
- Develop leadership skills
- Develop creative thinking skills
- Develop technical skills
Camp activities include video camera operation, video editing, design for print, design for the web, design for video, and web site creation.
Summer Theatre Camp:

This camp is a week-long immersion into all aspects of theatrical production! While the primary focus of the week will be on performance, participants will spend time learning the technical aspects of production (scenery, lighting, sound costumes, makeup). The week-long experience will culminate in an actualized production performed for family and friends!
The camp is designed to help students:
- Get that stage time all actors live for
- Learn the basics of technical theatre
- Hone in on your auditioning skills
- Enjoy social time with your peers
Camp workshops include stage makeup (old age technique), auditioning techniques and monologue preparation, improvisation, basic scenery construction and painting, and introduction to lighting and sound.
All Camps:
The priority registration deadline for each of these camps is July 1, 2008. The early bird registration fee (by July 1) is $405, after July 1 the fee is $455. This cost includes the camp program, lodging, most meals, a camp t-shirt, and evening activities. Students are asked to bring money for two meals off campus.
