Emmylou O'Brien is probably one of the busiest students on campus. But don't think you'll see her stressed out. She knows how to manage her time and activities and stays stress-free.

Emmy is a sophomore from Ord, Nebraska, and is the oldest of four children. Since transitioning from high school to college, she has learned how to balance school, activities and social life.

At Mount Marty, she is currently a member of the ADMIT Club and participates in the Phonathon. She writes and has many behind-the-scenes responsibilities for the student newspaper, The Moderator, as well as being the graphic designer for Paddlefish, the school's literary publication. She's also a member of the volleyball team and enjoys intramural sports.

She feels that since she is a people person, MMC had the perfect atmosphere because she could become familiar with everyone and feel comfortable.

If you think all those activities can keep Emmy busy, think again. She is also doing a three-year internship with South Dakota Magazine. She is a writer and has already done a few stories, as well as an illustration. In the future she hopes to also do design work for the magazine.

Being a Graphic Arts and English major, this internship really is the perfect opportunity for her.

"It is a great experience, especially since it is exactly what I want to do in the future. Getting this opportunity is amazing."
