Now in his senior year, Tony Lazarowicz has made the most of his time at Mount Marty. He will graduate this May with a triple-major in Psychology, Criminal Justice and Behavioral Science. He's been on the baseball team, involved in campus ministries and has completed two internship experiences. Currently, Tony is applying to graduate schools in the field of Clinical/Counseling Psychology.
At Home at the "Mount."
"I wanted to come to the 'Mount' because of the people I met here [while] I was looking at colleges." He was looking for a small college where he could know the professors and other students, and Mount Marty fit the bill. "From the first time I set foot on campus, I felt at home."
Dorm Life Defined.
Living in the dorms all four years has given Tony exposure to a lot of "very neat opportunities."
"It's nice to be able to walk down the hall, pop in and visit friends instead of having to go out and drive somewhere... There is always something to do. While it may not be planned, it is really easy to find a group of friends to head down to the lounge and play a game."
Tony enjoys the opportunity to build friendships through living in the dorms and is in his second year as a Resident Assistant for Whitby Hall.
Favorite Memories.
Looking back, Tony says his favorite class at Mount Marty was Experimental Methods, which gave him the choose his own direction in the course through individualized research. His favorite trip?
"I would have to say my favorite memory from college thus far was my sophomore year spring-break baseball trip to Florida. The weather was beautiful, and we had the opportunity to become closer as a team while bonding as friends, many of whom I will keep in contact with long after graduation."
Well-Equipped for Life After Graduation.
Tony is currently applying to graduate schools in the fields of Clinical/Counseling Psychology. Through his education and internship experiences with juvenile court in Sioux City and the Federal Prison Camp in Yankton, he has "been given firsthand knowledge of what the helping field of psychology expects."
"I feel that Mount Marty has equipped me with the tools I need to be successful in the real world. I have gained personal as well as professional skills... With the help of my professors, I have been exposed to two great internship experiences, which I believe will be huge selling points during future interviews and application processes."
