Foreign Film Series: The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie

Published Date11\2\2011
Mount Marty College is pleased to announce the Sunday, November 13 Gregorian Club Foreign Film, “The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie.”

This will be a 4:00 film shown at the Sacred Heart Monastery with a pot luck dinner to follow.

In Luis Bunuel's deliciously satiric, Oscar-winning masterpiece, an upper-class sextet (Fernando Rey, Paul Frankeur, Delphine Seyrig, Stephane Audran, Bulle Ogier and Jean-Pierre Cassel) sits down to dinner but never eats, their attempts repeatedly thwarted by a vaudevillian mixture of events both actual and imagined. Perhaps his greatest film, Bunuel's absurdist view of the upper class is a timeless satire about consumerism and class privilege. Director: Luis Bunuel (1972)

Foreign film enthusiasts are invited to join Mount Marty College’s Gregorian Club for the free Sunday afternoon film showings. Films begin at 2:00 p.m. in the Scholastica Learning Center, Room 108 on the Mount Marty College campus.
