MMC Bede Art Gallery to Host Exhibit - Collaborationism
Mount Marty College's Bede Art Gallery will host a collaborative exhibition, titled "Collaborationism." This exhibit will include works from artists Cory Knedler and Shannon Sargent.
Cory Knedler is the current Chair of the Department of Art at the University of South Dakota. He has been involved in numerous exhibitions across the nation since 1991 and is an active member of numerous professional art organizations, including Director of the South Dakota College Art Association. Knedler has also been involved in art education in the midwest since 1995. "Collaboration," he says, "describes cooperation with others. In this exhibition, the term references the cooperation between the artists." He describes this exhibition at MMC as "an exploration of reaction to influences on my art and my responses at this point and time."
Shannon Sargent is currently the Exhibitions/Collections Coordinator at the Sioux City Art Center. After serving six years in the United States Marine Corps as a Mountaineering Instructor, Sargent attended Morningside College where he received his B.S. in art in 2000, and later attended the University of South Dakota where he received his M.F.A. in painting in 2002. He is an adjunct professor at Morningside College and produces and shows his work throughout the region. Sargent has exhibited his work since 1997 and has won several awards for his work, including the Morningside College Art Grant. He lives in Sioux City with his wife, Lisa, and their daughter, Shay.
