Mount Marty College Volleyball Boosts Roster

Mount Marty College is pleased to announce the athletic signing of four players to the Lancers volleyball program this fall. 

Alyce Johnson of Alcester, SD is a 5'5" setter and left hitter who totaled 106 kills, 396 assists, 23 blocks, and 184 digs in the 2011 season. She has a serving average of 88% and had 39 service aces. For her efforts on the court, Johnson lettered three years and was named 2nd Team All-Conference. Her team was named District Champions three times while she was playing for the Cubs.

Johnson, daughter of Vaughn and Jody Johnson of Alcester, SD, plans to major in Business at Mount Marty College.

Abby Norrid of Winner, SD is a setter/libero who totaled 23 kills, 586 assists and 548 digs for the 2011 season. She had a 95% serving record and tallied 89 service aces. Norrid holds her school's record for assists and digs. She helped her team to titles such as the Big Dakota Champions and the White River Tournament Champions. She was individually named to Academic All-State and All-Conference.

Norrid, the daughter of Brad Norrid, Stacy Norrid and Darrin Suess, plans to major in special education at Mount Marty.

Morgan Frank of Osmond, NE is a transfer student from Northeast Community College with experience as a defensive specialist and libero. The daughter of Troy and Kim Frank of Osmond, NE, she plans to major in radiologic technology at MMC.

Samantha Bischoff of West Haven, Utah is a four-year varsity letter winner for volleyball. She averaged 186 aces, 445 kills, 481 digs, and 20 solo blocks in her career and has a serving percentage of 92.5%. She was named to All-Region 1st Team two times, All State All Regions Senior All Star Team, 1A All State 2nd Team, 1A All State Tournament 2nd Team, and Jayhawk Invitational All-Tournament Team for two years.

Bischoff, daughter of Marianne and James Bischoff of West Haven, UT, plans to major in Elementary education and is also the recipient of MMC's prestigious academic scholarship, the Benedictine Scholarship, in addition to a Catholic leadership award and her award for volleyball.

Head MMC volleyball coach, Candice Climer is excited for the new additions. "We are a program that is going to grow with all of this young talent that we're recruiting. We've got the potential to really improve and Alyce, Abby, Morgan and Sam are only going to help that effort." The Mount Marty College volleyball schedule kicks off on August 28th.
