Published Date7\2\2012
Mount Marty College is pleased to announce the commitment of Luke Loecker of O'Neill, NE to attend Mount Marty College this fall and participate in the baseball and golf programs.

Loecker graduated this spring from Saint Mary's High School in O'Neill, NE where he was a multi-sport athlete lettering in football, golf, and basketball. He also spent his summers playing for the O'Neill American Legion baseball team. As a distinguished athlete and student Loecker received Academic All-State honors all four years, was a Boys State representative, and a member of the National Honor Society. Loecker has also been involved in community activities, participating in meals on wheels and in a litter control program.

Mount Marty College head baseball coach, Andy Bernatow, is excited to announce the commitment of Brandon to the Lancer baseball program. "I am very excited to sign Luke. He has a natural connection to Mount Marty and the baseball program. Both of his parents are graduates and his dad played for the Lancers baseball team. Luke is a speedster and with the changing of bats in college baseball, speed is a necessity if you want to score runs on a consistent basis and he has the ability to play multiple positions on the field. Not only is Luke a great athlete, he is an awesome person. He will be a great addition to the Mount Marty Community."

Tom Schlimgen, head MMC golf coach, is eager for Loecker to join the program as well. "The golf program is excited to add Luke to our men's program. He has been a very consistent performer in golf through his high school career and we're looking to his performance as a Lancer."

The son of Kevin and Jodi Loecker, Loecker will major in both biology and chemistry at Mount Marty. In addition to his baseball and golf scholarships, he is also the recipient of one of MMC's prestigious academic scholarships, the Dean's Scholarship.
