MMC Mens Soccer Program Adds Numbers to Roster
Mount Marty College is pleased to announce the athletic signing of John Ahrens, Sturgis, SD; Victor "Danny" Barillas, Sioux Falls, SD; Ricardo Marroquin, Lexington, NE; and Isidro Rojas, Jr., Brawley, CA;
Ahrens, a sweeper from Sturgis Brown High School and the son of Boyd and Connie Ahrens, is expected to major in forensic science and criminal justice at MMC. He is receiving an academic incentive scholarship in addition to his soccer award.
Barilla, an outside midfielder from Roosevelt High School and son of Victor S. Barillas and Maribel A. Barillas, plans to major in exercise wellness while attending Mount Marty College. He is receiving an academic incentive scholarship in addition to his soccer award.
Marroquin, a defender and defensive midfielder, is a college transfer from Western Nebraska Community College. He plans to major in criminal justice at MMC and will be receiving an academic incentive scholarship in addition to his soccer award.
Rojas, a midfielder from Brawley Union High School is the son of Isidro and Irene Rojas. He plans to major is radiologic technology while at Mount Marty.
Lancer head coach, Nathan Epp, is looking forward to having the new additions on the team this year. "John has the size, speed, and the technical ability we want in a central defender. And with Ricardo as a transfer player, he'll bring some much needed experience to our team in addition to intensity and physical play to our defense."
Epp sees an improvement on the offense with the new signings as well. "Danny brings a strong ability to play midfield or forward which will make him a great asset to our offense. In addition to that, Isidro has the technical skills that we need to improve our ability to possess the ball and control the tempo of the game."
