2013 Mount Marty College Athletic Hall of Fame Announced

Mount Marty College announces two teams and one individual to be inducted into the Lancer Athletic Hall of Fame. The formal induction ceremony will be held on May 5, 2013; however, the inductees will be recognized at half time of the men's basketball game on Saturday, February 16th in Laddie E. Cimpl Arena.

The following will be honored:
1972-73 Lancerette Volleyball Team - This year marks the 40th anniversary of the team's success. In just the third year of intercollegiate athletic competition for the college, the 1972 team won the South Dakota State Volleyball Championship, going against all 10 colleges in the state that had volleyball. They went on the represent the state at the Regionals in Minneapolis against the champions from 7 states.

The 1972 team members were: Darlene Thole Dunklau, Kathy Velder Sobotka, Marcine Tomjack Dickes, Peg Utesch, Mary Korger Pistulka, Becky Beck, Ruth Bryant, Cyd Hamro Wyatt, Diane Thielen Stewart, Deb Dykstra, Bette Weiler Gorczynski, Cheri McGregor, Jill Heinzman, Lynette Burback Bruening, S. Joyce Feterl, and Coach Judi Hood Faunce.

1997-98 Lancer Men's Basketball Team - This is the 15th anniversary of the team. They were the South Dakota Iowa Conference regular season champions, and then qualified and went all the way to the semi-finals of the NAIA National Tournament - the highest finish for any Lancer team at a national tournament.

The 1998 team members were: Terry Becker, Chris Dickes, Matt Geiver, Travis Humpal, Landon Klock, Aaron Kranz, Ryan Krempges, Chris Maxwell, Ryan Raabe, Keith Rasmussen, Brock Rops, Mac Rops, and Coach Jim Thorson

Kate (Heine) Pesicka - 2002 graduate of Mount Marty College, Pesicka is the only women's basketball player in Lancer history to score 1000 points, grab 500 rebounds, and dish out 500 assists in a career. She was named Newcomer of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year for the SDIC Conference. She currently resides in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
