Mount Marty Softball Signs Infielder

Mount Marty College is pleased to announce the athletic signing of Kingsley-Pierson High School student athlete, Megan Meister, to the Lancer softball program for fall 2013.

Meister, at 5'5", is an experienced infielder. She was named the 2012 Team MVP, 2012 2nd Team All-Conference, Spirit Lake Tournament MVP, 2009 All-Conference Honorable Mention, 2009/2010/2011/2012 Academic All-Conference, and 2012 All-State. Her 2012 statistics were: Avg.300, AB 100, R 30, H 30, 2B 6, 3B 3, HR 1, RBIs 23, BB 17, SO 5, and SB 22.

Head MMC softball coach, Albert Fernandez, is excited for the signing, "I'm happy to have Megan join the Lancer softball program. She's a skilled infielder and plays the game hard. Megan is a great student and will be a good fit with the college and she'll also be a great addition to the MMC community. We look forward to her being on our roster next fall."

Off the field, Meister is on the A Honor Roll and a member of the National Honor Society in addition to being given an American Legion Citizenship Award. She is the daughter of Ron and Denyse Meister of Kinglsey, IA. She plans to major in special education and psychology at Mount Marty College and is receiving an academic excellence scholarship, a scholastica scholarship, and a catholic leadership award in addition to her softball award.
