First Annual Student Leadership Conference to be Held

Published Date3\28\2013
Mount Marty College is pleased to announce the First Annual Student Leadership Conference, "Teamwork - Ordinary to Extraordinary," to be held on Saturday, April 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This event is funded by the Mount Marty College Benedictine Institute for Leadership, Ethics and Social Justice and is coordinated by the department of student affairs staff.

The keynote address will be given by Aaron Davis, who learned teamwork as a member of the 1994 National Championship football team at the University of Nebraska. Since then, Davis has shared his insights on the possibility of human potential with over a million people throughout the United States and abroad. He is the author of the inspiring book "10 Minute Truths" and the co-author of two others. Davis is quick to remind audiences that the awards and accolades they may receive are all fantastic, but true success and excellence begins with those you care about and love the most.

Students attending the conference will have the opportunity to discover their leadership style and strengths in presentations by Cheryl Kalberer, the Director of the Emerging Leaders Academy and Director of the Title III and Advising and Mentoring Center at the University of Mary, Bismarck, North Dakota. Kalberer is a Certified Facilitator for the Student Leadership Challenge for the Kouzes and Posner Leadership model. Conference participants will also have the opportunity to take and score the Kouzes-Posner Leadership Practices Inventory and experience working out of their strengths in a group planning experience.

The Student Leadership Conference is open to area college students and high school seniors. For registration and more information contact Mount Marty College Student Affairs at 668-1541 or email media@mtmc.edu.
