Mount Marty College Hosts Quiz Bowl 2013 Semi-Finals and Championship

Several area high schools participated in the KK93 and Mount Marty College's annual Quiz Bowl competition on March 23, 2013. High Schools that participated were: Yankton, Vermillion, Bon Homme, and Scotland. The semi-finals saw Scotland High School against Vermillion High School and Yankton High School against Bon Homme High School.

Participating for Scotland High School were Anna Struck, Kennidy Asche, Stephanie Kotalik, and Katie Winckler. Vermillion High School was represented by Lucas Hodges, Robert Erikson, and Jay Munger. Yankton High School's team was comprised of Jacob Bies, Whitney Specht, Kayla Sylvester, and Josh Arens. Bon Homme's team was represented by Tanner Hajek, Hannah Buchholz, and Austin Kaul.

At the end of the semi-finals Vermillion came out on top with a 7 to 6 victory as did Yankton with a 7 to 4 victory putting both teams in the championship. Vermillion won the championship round with a score of 7 to 5 and earned a $300 team prize in addition to Mount Marty College scholarships. As runners-up, Yankton also earned Mount Marty College scholarships and a $150 team prize.
