Mount Marty Theatre Presents The Small Room at the Top of the Stairs
The Mount Marty College Department of Theatre will present "The Small Room at the Top of the Stairs" on the Bistro Second Stage April 24-27 at 7:30 p.m. The Bistro Second Stage is located in the Bede building on the Yankton campus, Room 127.
In the play by Carole Frechette, translated by John Murrell, the main character, Grace, finds herself irresistibly drawn to a mysterious and forbidden room. Loosely based on the classic fairy tale "Bluebeards Castle", the story takes an unexpected twist when Grace finds what she does not expect, hidden in the Small Room at the Top of the Stairs. It is a thriller and postmodern play which asks questions, and demands answers. Only the truth will suffice and the search will not stop until it is revealed.
"The Small Room at the Top of the Stairs" is under the direction and design of Stephen English. The cast includes Brooke Fischer, Sioux Falls, SD as Grace; Ben Gothier, Yankton, SD as her husband, Henry; Raegan Layher, Douglas, WY as Anne, her sister; Gina Dethlefsen, Stickney, SD as Joyce, her mother; and Samantha Tobey, Norfolk, NE, as Jenny, Henry’s maid.
