Mount Marty College is pleased to announce the commitment of Mason Kaitfors to attend Mount Marty College this fall and participate in the baseball program.

Kaitfors is set to graduate from Spearfish High School this spring. Kaitfors is a 5'11" Outfielder that plays for Post 164 Spearfish American Legion Baseball Team. Mason has been playing at the varsity Legion level for several years. He was a key starter for last year's squad that qualified for the South Dakota State American Legion Tournament and finished with a 36-28 record. Mason had a strong showing batting .343 on the season with 69 hits, 60 runs scored, 10 doubles, 1 triple and 31 runs batted in. He also walked 32 times and stole 19 bases. Kaitfors is off to another great year, he is currently batting .450 through six games this season. Mason a multi-sport athlete has also excelled in Football, Basketball, and Track for Spearfish High School. This past fall he was named to the 11A All-State Football team.

Mount Marty College head baseball coach, Andy Bernatow, is excited to announce the commitment of Kaitfors to the Lancer Baseball program. "I am really excited about the signing and commitment of Mason Kaitfors. Mason has been on the coaching staff's radar for several years. We are getting an exceptional athlete, baseball player and competitor. Mason possesses many tools that college coaches look for and he can run. Bringing in speed is something that is needed with this current recruiting class. I am also excited and fortunate to be getting another quality player from Spearfish. Spearfish has been a great place for us to find talent; Coach Matt Kemp does a tremendous job of developing talent and teaching the players to play sound baseball. Mason should be a great fit for the program and the campus community."

The son of Mike and Lezlie Kaitfors will major in Recreational Management at Mount Marty College. Mason will receive academic excellence scholarship in addition to his athletic award at Mount Marty College.
