Mount Marty College's Smooth Benediction has been selected to compete in the 2014 International Championships of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA). Smooth Benediction is a highly select a cappella choir whose repertoire ranges from popular music, musical theater, to oldies. This group performs for Admission events on campus, as well as local events in the community, as well as competitions. Smooth Benediction will compete in the Midwest Quarterfinal being held at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln in Lincoln, NE on February 15, 2014. The top two groups from the Quarterfinal round go on to the Semifinal competition at Illinois State University, in Normal, IL on April 5, 2014. This year the application process for the Smooth Benediction group was through a submitted YouTube video. Hundreds of groups from all over the country submitted entries. A panel of judges screened the videos, and chose the group to compete in the Quarterfinal Rounds in the Midwest Region. Smooth Benediction will compete against seven other groups from colleges and universities in the Midwest. The top two groups from each Quarterfinal will go on to the Semifinal round in early April.
