MMC Mens Basketball Inks Ethan Stand Out
Mount Marty College is pleased to announce the signing of Blake Bartscher of Ethan High School to the men's basketball program.
Bartscher led the Ethan boys basketball team to their first state tournament appearance since 2001 where they finished 4th in Class B. Over this past season, Bartscher averaged 18.7 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 7.5 assists earning him 1st Team All-State Class B honors, Conference MVP, and State Tournament All-Tournament team. He was also named Class B "Spirit of Su" winner and will be announced as a finalist for South Dakota Mr. Basketball. Bartscher also led his high school football team to a 9AA State Championship for which he earned All-State honors.
A senior that will graduate this spring from Ethan High School, Bartscher has excelled in the classroom and is a member of the National Honor Society. He was a recipient of the Ronald Reagan Leadership Award as well as being named to the All-State Academic team.
Mount Marty men's basketball coach, Andrew Baker, is excited about the signing of Bartscher. "Blake is a proven winner and he is a tremendous leader. I am so thrilled to have him join the Lancer family as a member of our men's basketball team. He is a big part of our plan moving forward and we are excited about seeing this young man in a Lancer jersey playing point guard for years to come."
Bartscher, undecided about his academic major at Mount Marty College, is the son of Hank and Lesley Bartscher. He is the recipient of a MMC Academic Merit Scholarship in addition to his basketball scholarship at Mount Marty College.
