Mount Marty College Softball Signs Two
Mount Marty College is pleased to announce the athletic signing of Cassidy Janicek and Mattayah Wainscoat to the Lancer softball program for the 2014-15 softball season.
Cassidy Janicek is a 5'2" designated player/infielder that was a part of the Lincoln University softball team in 2014. She was game MVP in the Missouri State Tournament and on the All-MIAA Academic Honor Roll.
Her 2014 hitting statistics were: Avg .259, AB 27, R 2, H 7, HR 1, RBI 3, BB 3, and SO 6.
Mattayah Wainscoat, a Beresford High School student athlete is a 5'6" infielder that will join an already strong recruiting class for the Lancers.
Her 2013 hitting statistics were: Avg .336, AB 92, R 7, H 31, 2B 17, 3B 3, HR 5, RBI 29, BB 13, SO 34 and SB 2.
Head MMC softball coach, Albert Fernandez, is pleased to sign the players, "I am excited to have Cassidy and Mattayah joining our softball program next fall. Cassidy has two years of college experience which will be a benefit to our program and she has the ability to help us offensively as a designated player. Mattayah will give us some added depth in the infield and both players are a great fit with our program and the Mount Marty College community. We look forward to them being Lancers."
The daughter of Ray and Christine of Columbia, Mo., Cassidy will be majoring in secondary education and history at MMC. In addition to her softball award Janicek will be receiving an academic honors scholarship.
The daughter of James and Rose Wainscoat of Viborg, SD, Mattayah will be a criminal justice major at MMC. In addition to her softball award Wainscoat will be receiving an academic honors scholarship.
