The South Dakota
Telecommunications Association (SDTA)
is now accepting applications for the $1,500 Brian Meyer
Memorial Scholarship to be awarded for the 2009 spring
semester. The applicant must have completed at least two
semesters of course work at any accredited post-secondary school
in South Dakota and reside in an SDTA member company service
area. Applicants must complete an application, write a short
outline of their career plans and submit a brief essay on the
future of small town South Dakota and what can be done to
enhance the quality of life in rural areas. Applications are
available at
www.sdtaonline.com and must be received by October 31st,
2008. Applications are also available in the Financial
Assistance Office.
The
Dakota Indian Foundation Scholarship is established for the further
educational advancement of aspiring Native American students with priority
given to those of Sioux heritage. Applicant must be a sophomore, junior, or
senior and must take 12 or more credit hours per semester and complete the
credit hours with a minimum GPA of 2.0. Applications are available in the
Financial Assistance Office, Roncalli 100. Deadline is August 1st,
2008 for the fall semester and January 15th, 2009 for the spring
semester.
The South Dakota Mensa and the Mensa Foundation
announces that applications for the annual essay contest are
available on line. The award is based on an essay of 550 words
or less describing the applicant’s academic or career goals.
Applicants must be a US citizen or legal resident. Applications
are available on line at

must be postmarked by January 15, 2009.
The P.A.Y. Scholarship Endowment will award a $500.00
scholarship to a graduating high school senior in the Yankton area that wants
to pursue post secondary education in the related fields of agricultural.
Applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the
scholarships. Those not meeting the requirements will not be considered:
Students are high school seniors, graduating in the Spring of 2009; Students
will study an agricultural-related major at a two- or four-year college;
Applicants must reside in one of the specified counties: South Dakota -
(Yankton County, Bon Homme County, Clay County, Turner County, Hutchinson
County) Nebraska - (Knox County, Cedar County, Boyd County).

Deadline is February 16th, 2009.
