The Moderator encourages readers to submit letters to the editor.

Submitted letters should include:

1. Writer’s full name
1. If student - Year in school & major at MMC
2. If faculty/staff – Position held
2. E-mail (to confirm authenticity)

Anonymous letters are not accepted.

Format and style

1. Letters should be short (less than 300 words).
2. All letters may be edited for length, clarity, grammatical accuracy and stylistic consistency.

Content
The letters section is a forum for promoting open discussion of interest to our readers. To be accepted for publication, the letters must meet one of the following criteria:

1. Relate to an article published in The Moderator.
2. Relate to events and issues related to MMC.
3. Contain information of particular interest to the MMC community.

A letter will not be published if it:

1. Is deemed by the editor to be potentially libelous or if it maligns a particular person or group.
2. Addresses an issue which has been resolved prior to publication.
3. Addresses topics beyond the scope of the newspaper’s coverage or the immediate interest of our audience.
4. Is written to promote a product or service.
5. Is incoherent or poorly articulated.

Authors shall be given the opportunity to revise unacceptable letters if time allows. The number of letters on one subject may be limited for space reasons.

Submission Deadline
All must be submitted within two weeks of the last issue’s publication date to be considered for the next issue.
