The Moderator encourages readers to submit their opinions for publication in the Rants and Raves column.

There are many wonderful things that happen here on campus that sometimes too easily go unrecognized. Don’t let that happen! If you see something that deserves commendation, give a little love with a rave.

This section is also a great way to poke a little light-hearted fun of some of the things that might be less than perfect at MMC via a rant. Come on…no place is perfect, so let’s not take ourselves too seriously.

Submitted rants and raves should include:

1. Writer’s full name
1. If student - Year in school & major at MMC
2. If faculty/staff – Position held
2. E-mail (to confirm authenticity)

Anonymous rants and raves are not accepted. However, initials may be used for publication at the author’s request.

Format and style

1. Rants & raves should be short (50 words or less).
2. All rants and raves may be edited for length, clarity, grammatical accuracy and stylistic consistency.

Content

The rants & raves section is a forum for promoting open discussion of interest to our readers. To be accepted for publication, rants & raves must meet one of the following criteria:

1. Relate to an article published in The Moderator.
2. Relate to events and issues related to MMC.
3. Contain information of particular interest to the MMC community.

A rant and raves will not be published if it:

1. Is deemed by the editor to be potentially libelous or if it maligns a particular person or group.
2. Addresses an issue which has been resolved prior to publication.
3. Addresses topics beyond the scope of the newspaper’s coverage or the immediate interest of our audience.
4. Is written to promote a product or service.
5. Is incoherent or poorly articulated.

Authors shall be given the opportunity to revise unacceptable rants and raves if time allows. The number of rants and raves may be limited for space reasons.
