In 1979, Watertown and the Sisters of Mother of God Monastery began offering college courses at what was called Harmony Hill Education Center. Mount Marty College adopted the education center in 1994 as one of their very own branch locations. In 2008, MMC-Watertown moved to Arrow Avenue. They continue to maintain close relationships with Mother of God Monastery and Lake Area Technical Institute. In 2014, Mount Marty College transitioned to a new location at 3100 9th Avenue SW in Watertown and will continue to deliver quality education in NE South Dakota for students seeking a baccalaureate degree. Course delivery is primarily once a week and evening for local residents and commuters of the Watertown area. The Watertown location is the undergraduate branch location, currently located at 3100 9th Avenue SW, on west highway 212 and north of Lake Pelican.

Academic Calendar
Mount Marty College's academic calendar is semester based, with the fall semester starting in August or September and ending in December and the spring semester starting in January and ending in May. There are also optional summer sessions offered.

Mount Marty College is affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church. The Benedictine Community of Sacred Heart Monastery is the sponsoring agent of the college; the Board of Trustees is the final governing board of the institution.
