Mount Marty College Announces ‘Lancer Days’ Homecoming Event Schedule, Jan. 30 to Feb. 4

Mount Marty College (MMC) will celebrate homecoming week, Jan. 30 through Feb. 4, with a full schedule of events for MMC students as well as the general public. Culminating in the MMC Lancer vs. Concordia University women’s and men’s basketball games on Saturday, Feb. 4, the homecoming week celebrations also include themed dress-up days, a formal dance, free skating and bowling events for students and the crowning of the 2017 Lord and Lady Marben.

 “Homecoming is a time at Mount Marty when students get together to create memories they’ll never forget,” says senior Allison Cross, biology major and Student Government Association president from Sioux Falls, South Dakota. “Through sporting events, campus activities and daily dress-up themes, students can display their Lancer pride all week long.” 

This year’s Lancer Days events begin with Homecoming Mass, open to students and community members, at 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 29 in Peace Chapel on the MMC campus. The Coffeehouse Bistro Series featuring Aryk Crowder will take place Tuesday, Jan. 31 at 8:30 p.m. in the Bistro, and the Mount Marty Money Game is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1 in Marian Auditorium.

On Thursday, Feb. 2, the college will host a faculty recital at 7:30 p.m. in Marian Auditorium, followed by a free ice-skating event from 10 p.m. to midnight at Yankton Ice Arena.

On Friday, Feb. 3, the annual coronation of Lord and Lady Marben, voted on by MMC students, is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in Marian Auditorium. The all-senior homecoming court includes:

A reception will follow the coronation at 8:15 p.m. at the Cyber Café, along with a free bowling and pizza event from 10 p.m. to midnight at Yankton Bowl.   

On Saturday, Feb. 4, Lancer Women’s Basketball will take on the Concordia University Bulldogs at 2 p.m. in Cimpl Arena, followed by Lancer Men’s Basketball vs. Concordia University at 4 p.m. Students and the public are asked to “Be Bold, Wear Gold” for both games.

MMC will host a formal dance for students later that evening at the Riverfront Event Center in Yankton, beginning at 10 p.m.
