“While technically working in any artistic medium, challenging myself has always been a priority. Symbolically and iconographically, I like to create allegorical compositions,” said Kahle. “In creating a work of art, I use the repose of my brush, scientific theory, and experimentation to create what I feel are intellectually developed artworks.”

One of Kahle’s technical and creative influences is the French artist Francois Boucher (1705-1770), who is said to have been inspired for his palette by observing iridescent colours from delicate sea shells and precious stones placed on top of a mirrored table.

Kahle views art as revealing and engaging the human experience, stimulating the senses and imagination, and as highly important in today’s classroom.

“The confluence of creativity helps many on a sociological, cultural, physiological, and cognitive levels,” he says. “Through the interaction of form and color in relationship to sensibility, we as humans relate. For children’s development, there is nothing more important, for this should enhance confidence in our humanities.”

Kahle’s “Symphonic Colours Simply Created” and all exhibits at the Bede Art Gallery are free and open to the public Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The gallery is located at 1105 W. Eighth St. in Yankton, on MMC’s campus, just off of the Marian Auditorium lobby.
