New TeamMates Partnership to Benefit Area Students with Scholarships to Mount Marty College
October 19, 2016
Mount Marty College (MMC) is teaming up with the TeamMates Mentoring Program to offer a $13,000 scholarship to every TeamMates mentee who attends MMC in the fall of 2017.
The mission of the TeamMates Mentoring Program is to impact the world by inspiring youth to reach their full potential. TeamMates serves close to 8,000 youth in more than 140 communities across Nebraska, Wyoming, Kansas and Iowa. Mentors meet with their mentees one-on-one in school, once a week, during the academic year.
“Mount Marty is the first college we have a partnership with in South Dakota,” TeamMates co-founder Dr. Tom Osborne said. “This will be a very meaningful partnership for us.”
Mount Marty College will host TeamMates Visit Days on Oct. 21 and 22 for mentees to experience a day in the life of an MMC student. They’ll take a campus tour, explore Yankton, and talk with school staff.
“Here at Mount Marty, we put great emphasis in developing well-rounded students who keep service to others at the forefront of their academic experience. We are confident that students who are involved in the TeamMates program will thrive and excel in Mount Marty’s close-knit, supportive community,” MMC President Marcus Long said.
