Continuing an 80-year tradition of producing live theater, Mount Marty College (MMC) Theatre has announced its upcoming plays for the 2016-17 season. This year, in addition to individual ticket sales, MMC will offer a new season pass option.
The season begins Oct. 20-23 with Suds: A Rocking ’60s Musical Soap Opera, created and written by Melinda Gibb, Steve Gunderson and Bryan Scott, with music and vocal arrangements by Steve Gunderson, featuring the MMC Jazz Band.
Love Letters, by A.R. Gurney, a senior directing showcase for Catherine Pratt, runs Feb. 10-12, and Always a Bridesmaid, a new comedy by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten, runs April 6-9.
On Tuesday, April 11, MMC will host the 6th Annual Stations of the Cross Holy Week presentation, which is free and open to the public.
Returning to the MMC campus, the National Players Tour 68, America’s Longest-Running Professional Touring Company, will present The Grapes of Wrath, by Frank Galati from the novel by John Steinbeck on Friday, April 21 and The Giver, an adaptation by Eric Coble from the Newbery Award-winning book by Lois Lowry, on Saturday, April 22.
