Mount Marty welcomes its first semester-long study abroad program, slated for Spring 2017 in Orvieto, ItalY.
Through a partnership with Saint Anselm College, two Mount Marty College students will have the opportunity to live, learn, and travel with their fellow students and faculty in Orvieto, Italy. The program, which started in spring 2016, is open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Applications are due by October 15.
Orvieto, which is conveniently located in Italy's Umbria region, is one hour away from Rome and one and a half hours away from Florence by train. This program not only includes academic excursions but also a weeklong spring break to allow you to travel and explore further afield. While in Orvieto, take courses that integrate local cultural events and landmarks, including academic excursions to cities such as Rome, Florence, Monte Cassino, Assisi, Siena, Pompeii, and other heritage sites.
"I strongly encourage Mount Marty students to participate in this exciting educational opportunity. The world has, perhaps, never been more at our fingertips and also at odds; we need future leaders who understand the importance and beauty of a culture in addition to their own. Study abroad enriches not only a student's understanding of the world, but of one's place in it," says Dr. Jane Wood, Academic Dean at Mount Marty.
