Collin Peterson is headed to Mount Marty College to Play Baseball Published Date8\15\2011
Mount Marty College head baseball coach, Andy Bernatow, is pleased to announce the commitment of Collin Peterson, Beresford, S.D., to attend Mount Marty College this fall and participate in the baseball program.
Peterson, a 2011 Beresford High School graduate, has had a distinguished high school and Legion career on the ball diamond. In 2009 and 2010 Peterson guided his team to Teener State Runner-up finishes. For his efforts, he was named All-Region Catcher and Second Team All-State Catcher in 2010 and 2011. Peterson put up impressive statistics during the 2010 high school season. He batted .431 with 31 hits, 7 doubles, 3 triples, 4 home runs, 17 runs batted in, and 20 stolen bases. In the 2011 high school season Peterson batted .476 with 27 runs, 20 hits, 7 doubles, 1 home run, 11 runs batted in, and 11 stolen bases.
Lancer Head Coach Andy Bernatow is very excited about Peterson’s commitment, “Peterson is a very athletic player. He hits for power, shows great leg speed as a catcher, and has had an outstanding high school career. Collin has been named All-State 2nd Team Catcher twice and has the ability to play multiple positions,” he said.
"Collin will provide depth at the catcher position and be put in a position battle right away,” Bernatow continued. "We graduated Josh Wenande who was a three-year starting catcher. It should be an intense fall season with our catchers vying for the starting spot."
Peterson, the son of Brad and Kari Peterson, plans to major in Physical Therapy. He is a recipient of an Academic Incentive Scholarship and a Baseball Scholarship.
