Blake to Join MMC Basketball Team

Blake is a 6'0" center who totaled 1242 points, 69 steals, 853 rebounds, and 49 blocked shots in her career. For her efforts on the court Blake was awarded Academic All-State, Hanson and Anderson Cover Athlete, All -Conference, 3rd Team All-State 2012, All-Region 2012, and was a 3 year captain. She averaged 16.4 points and 7.4 rebounds per game.

Head Mount Marty women's basketball coach, Tom Schlimgen is excited to welcome Blake to the team, "Sam is a strong player under the basket and she'll help us fill a need there. She's aggressive and doesn't hesitate to take the ball to the basket and those skills will make her successful at the next level."

Not only is Blake an outstanding player, but excels off the court too. During her high school career, she earned the A+ Student Award all four years, was the Student Council President, was a 2-time Student of the Month, a member of the National Honor Society, Natural Helpers, received the National Science Award 2008-2011, and a Girls State Representative.

Blake is the daughter of Roger and Kathleen Blake of Centerville, SD and is currently undecided in her major. She will be receiving one of MMC's prestigious scholarships, the Dean's Scholarship in addition to her basketball award.
