MMC Watertown Holds Spring Commencement

Mount Marty College's Watertown location hosted its spring 2012 commencement exercises at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 5 at Holy Name Catholic Church, 1009 Skyline Drive. Mount Marty College President, Dr. Joseph Benoit, delivered the commencement address.

Joseph Benoit became the ninth President of Mount Marty College in July 2011. He came to Mount Marty College from the University Of North Dakota in Grand Forks, N.D. where he served as Dean of the Graduate School and Professor for the Department of Pharmacology, Physiology and Therapeutics since 2001. Prior to his work in North Dakota, he served as Director of Graduate Studies and professor at the University of South Alabama, College of Medicine, Mobile, Alabama. He has over 25 years of experience in higher education ranging from faculty to senior level administration. President Benoit holds a Ph.D. and undergraduate degree in Basic Medical Sciences at the University of South Alabama, and a B.S. in Biology/Chemistry at the University of Southwestern Louisiana.

In addition to Benoit's remarks, the ceremony included a student address by Heather Nebel of Hayti, SD. Saturday’s commencement ceremony conferred thirty-eight Bachelor of Arts degrees and seven Associate of Arts degrees upon the spring 2012 graduates.
