Mount Marty Basketball Program Signs Ohnoutka

Mount Marty College men's basketball program is pleased to announce the signing of Ryan Ohnoutka of Columbus, NE and graduate of Columbus Scotus High School.

Ohnoutka is a 6' guard who averaged 11 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1.5 steals per game. He shot 41% from the field and 70% from the free throw line. He was a First Team All-City selection his junior and senior year and named Honorable Mention All-State his junior and senior years. He has also been selected to play in the Columbus Telegram All Star Game this summer. Voted team Defensive MVP and Team Leader, Ohnoutka also earned All-District and Honorable Mention All-State honors as a running back and linebacker in football.

Off the court, Ohnoutka was a member of the student council, B Honor Roll, S club, and assisted with youth basketball camps and coaching club teams during high school. He received the Columbus Sertoma Club award as 2012 Male Athlete of the Year for Scotus HS.

"Ryan is a good fit for us at the guard position," said MMC head men's basketball coach Jim Thorson. "He comes from a program where he's been taught the importance of hard work and discipline and we're excited about him playing for the Lancers."

Ohnoutka, son of Jeff and Deb Ohnoutka of Columbus, NE, will receive an Academic Achievement scholarship in addition to his basketball award and plans to pursue a degree in secondary education and coaching.
