Alex Mueller Headed to MMC Baseball Program

Mount Marty College is pleased to announce the commitment of Alex Mueller, a shortstop and pitcher, to attend Mount Marty College this fall and participate in the baseball program.

Mueller graduated this spring from Yankton High School and is currently playing spring baseball for the Yankton High School Club team along with summer baseball for Yankton First Dakota Bank Post 12 American Legion team.

For his efforts Mueller was named Academic All-State this past spring for SD High School Club Baseball and also named All-Region for Class A Region 1. Mueller was also a key component on 2011 SD Legion Runner-up team. Mueller batted .307 for the legion team scoring 35 runs on 39 hits with 18 RBIs.

Mueller will major in Math/Secondary Education Major at Mount Marty. He is the son of Jeff and Jane Mueller and is the recipient of an MMC academic scholarship and a baseball scholarship.

Mount Marty College head baseball coach, Andy Bernatow, is excited about the commitment of Alex to the Lancer baseball program. "Alex is an outstanding young man and I'm excited that he’s decided to stay in Yankton for his college education and to play baseball at Mount Marty. He's had a productive high school career and is a joy to watch on the field. He plays with a high baseball IQ and is a high energy player that and will be a great fit for the program."
