KYNT Kooistra is Voice of Lancers

Published Date6\13\2012
Mount Marty College is pleased to announce that Scott Kooistra of KYNT (Riverfront Broadcasting, LLC) is the new voice of Lancers athletics. Beginning in August, KYNT will begin broadcasting all men's and women's basketball games and select volleyball and baseball games for the Lancers. Kooistra, who has an broad history with MMC, will be at the helm for the broadcasts.

Kooistra began his relationship with Mount Marty back in the mid-80's announcing basketball and baseball games. From 1986-1995 Kooistra's voice was associated with the Lancers. He also has an extensive history with Yankton athletics and will continue as the play by play voice of all Yankton High School sports on KYNT. He was the South Dakota Sportscaster of the Year in 95-96 and was awarded the 1999 Marconi Award for Small Market Personality of the Year.

MMC Athletic Director, Chuck Iverson, is overjoyed to have Kooistra associated with Lancer athletics. "Scott is a great broadcaster and has a great deal of experience. We really didn't think the scheduling was going to work for us to be able to work with him again, but it did and we consider ourselves really lucky to have him. Scott knows Mount Marty and our sports programs and that type of knowledge isn't something that you can find in just any broadcaster."

Mount Marty College and Riverfront Broadcasting, LLC (KYNT, KK93 and KDAM) announced in March that they are joining together in a sports marketing partnership. The new agreement will give exclusive rights to AM 1450 KYNT and Riverfront Broadcasting to broadcast all of the Lancers sporting events. In addition to that, the sports marketing and sponsorship expertise of Riverfront Broadcasting will be utilized in promoting and marketing Lancers athletics.

Kooistra will also continue as "The Voice" of YHS sports on KYNT-AM.
