Branson to Join Mount Marty College Volleyball Team

Mount Marty College is pleased to announce the athletic signing of Lexie Branson of Elk Point-Jefferson High School, to play volleyball for the Lancers in the fall.

Branson is a 5'10" middle hitter, who totaled 394 kills and 88 blocks in the 2011 season and also broke the record at the State A Tournament in 2011 with 1.83 average and 22 blocks. She was a part of the 2010, 2011, and 2012 District and Region championship teams and participated in the state tournament all three years. For her efforts on the court she was named 2011 Class A All-State First Team, 2011 and 2010 Class A All-Tournament, 2011 Big Sioux Conference First Team, 2011 Region 4A First Team, and 2010 Big Sioux Conference Honorable Mention.

Lancers' head volleyball coach, Candice Climer, is pleased with the signing of Branson. "Lexie will be a great fit for the Lancers team. She is a hard worker who has a lot of experience on a winning team that has competed at a high level. She'll bring a great sense of competition to our team."

Branson, daughter of Wes and Kim Branson of Elk Point, SD, plans to major in nursing at Mount Marty College and will be receiving an academic incentive scholarship in addition to her volleyball award.
