Lennox Standout Signs With MMC Baseball

Published Date8\24\2012
Mount Marty College is pleased to announce the commitment of Jared Fodness to attend Mount Marty College and participate in the school's baseball program. Fodness is a graduate of Lennox High School in Lennox, SD.

Fodness comes to the MMC roster as a pitcher and first baseman that packs some size. Fodness stands 6' 5" and weighs 235 pounds. He played for Lennox High School Club Baseball Team in the spring and the Lennox American Baseball Team in the summer. This past summer he compiled an 8-3 record with a 2.18 ERA while striking out 84 batters in 67 innings.

Mount Marty College head baseball coach, Andy Bernatow, is excited to welcome Fodness to the Lancer baseball program. "I am very pleased to have Jared. You don't see a lot of kids with Jared's size playing baseball these days - it seems like basketball and football are taking them away from the game. Jared was a late, great find. I was impressed and surprised when I got to see him pitch this summer at a Legion Tourney in Lennox. He showed a lot of life in his arm and I'm eager to get to work with him. With his frame he has the ability to throw harder than he already does."

The son of Craig and Heidi, Fodness will major in mathematics at Mount Marty. He is the recipient of an MMC academic merit scholarship in addition to his baseball award.
