Winckler Signs with Mount Marty College

Mount Marty College is pleased to announce the athletic signing of Kellie Winckler to play women's basketball and participate in golf for the Lancers next fall.

Winckler, a 6'0" forward has been a vital player at Andes Central High School in Lake Andes, South Dakota. She has averaged 20 points, 13 rebounds, 7 assists, and 6 steals. She shoots a 45% field goal percentage and a 85% free throw percentage.

With over 1,000 career points, Winckler holds an Andes Central High School record in that basketball category. Four times she was named All-Conference, was the Team Captain and was a four time MVP.

For golf, Winckler was part of a three time region winning team, a region team runner-up, and a three time individual state medalist placing highest at fourth place.

Lancers head women's basketball coach, Tom Schlimgen, sees a promising future with the signing of Winckler. "We are excited to have Kellie join our Women's Basketball and Women's Golf programs. On the basketball court her athleticism as well as her versatility, will help her make the transition to the college game. Her golf talents will be a very good addition to our program, as she will be competing for a varsity spot immediately. She is the kind of student-athlete, and person, we want to represent our programs here at Mount Marty College."

Off the court, Winckler is an outstanding student on the A Honor Roll, a part of National Honor Society and a Student of the Month.

In addition to her basketball award Winckler is also receiving an academic honors scholarship. The daughter of Randy and Carla Winckler of Lake Andes, SD she is undecided in her major at Mount Marty College.
