Elk Point-Jeffersons Abbey Signs with MMC Volleyball

Mount Marty College is pleased to announce the athletic signing of Kelsey Abbey of Elk Point-Jefferson High School to participate in volleyball for the Lancers next fall.

On the court, the 5'2" Abbey will play as a libero having extensive experience as a defensive specialist. She was part of the 2010 team that placed 2nd at the state tournament as well as the 2011 team that placed 5th. She had 20 assists, 382 digs, and had 41 service aces for the 2012 season. In 2011 and 2010 she had 507 and 204 digs, respectively, for those seasons. She also played in the 2010 Junior Olympic National Tournament in Reno, Nev.

Head MMC volleyball coach, Candice Climer is excited to welcome Abbey to the program. "Kelsey has that competitive drive that we're looking for. She knows what it takes to win and to be a winner. Those traits will translate well to the next level for her. We're excited to have her join the Lancer program."

Abbey, the daughter of Larry and Cammy Abbey of Elk Point, So. Dak. , plans to major in accounting at Mount Marty College. She is the recipient of an academic excellence scholarship, a scholastica scholarship, and a Catholic leadership award in addition to her volleyball award.
