Mount Marty Softball Signs Local Standout

Mount Marty College is pleased to announce the athletic signing of Bon Homme High School student athlete, Karlee Kozak, to the Lancer softball program for fall 2013.

Kozak is a 5'5" short stop that was named All-State All-Tournament Team and All-State Honorable Mention in 2012, First Team All-State in 2011, and All-State Honorable Mention in 2010. Her 2012 hitting statistics were: Avg.363, AB 149, R 38, H 42, 2B 4, 3B 3, RBIs 28, BB 13, and SO 17.

Head MMC softball coach, Albert Fernandez, is pleased with the addition of Kozak, "I'm excited to have Karlee join our softball program next fall. She is a local player who has had a great career for both Yankton High and the Yankton Spitfire club Team. Karlee has the ability to play multiple infield positions and is a true competitor. She is a great fit with our team and the Mount Marty College community."

Off the field, Kozak has been on the A Honor Roll and is a member of the National Honor Society. She was also bestowed the American Legion School Citizenship Award and was the Student Body Vice President. Kozak is the daughter of Brian and Janelle Kozak of Tyndall, SD and plans to major in radiology technology at Mount Marty College. In addition to her softball award, Kozak is receiving an academic merit scholarship.
