Mount Marty College signs former Elkton Standout

Mount Marty College is pleased to announce the athletic signing of Cassidy Gebhart of Elkton, SD to continue her basketball career with the Lancers.

Gebhart had an outstanding prep career at Elkton High School. She helped lead her team to the 2010 State Championship, a runner-up placing in 2009, and a third place finish in 2012. Elkton High School had a record of 88 wins and only 10 losses during her time there. Cassidy was named to the All-State Tournament Team all three years and was a 1st Team All-State selection as a senior. She was also named the Dakota Valley Conference Most Valuable Player. Cassidy averaged 20 points, 5 steals, 3 assists, and 3 rebounds a game during her senior campaign. She graduated as the Elkton High School leader in scoring (1,567), assists (406), and steals (552).

Cassidy was also active in Fellowship of Christian Athletes, National Honor Society, band, and choir. Cassidy transfers in after spending the last year at the University of Sioux Falls.

"We are thrilled to sign someone of the quality of Cassidy. She is an even better person and will be a great representative of our team and school. Her athleticism, experience, quickness, and her past successes will allow her to make an immediate impact on our team," says Lancers Women's Basketball Head Coach, Tom Schlimgen.

Gebhart, the daughter of Ervin and Lisa Gebhart, plans to major in Exercise Wellness at Mount Marty College and will be receiving an Excellence Academic Scholarship in addition to her basketball award.
